Are French Fries a Victim of the Economy?

I heard this story on the news this afternoon (I'm off work because it's Good Friday). I can't believe this is true. I LOVE french fries .Well actually all potatoes but especially french fries since I'm also a salt fiend.

I was intrigued by the comment of one gentleman in the article. He said, "One way to save money on food is just don't buy everything. Buy just the thing you go there for. The main dish is always the thing you go there for". I don't. I don't do a lot of fast food anymore. However, about once every couple of months or so I will go to the McDonalds just down the street from my office and order the largest size order of fries they have. That's all. No drink (I get water back at the office) and no burger. My co-workers are used to my little quirk now. "Oh, it's time for a french fry fix", they often comment. Based on the findings of the U.S. Potato Board, maybe I need to get that fix more often.

It's a tough job but someone has to do it. :)

I'm really not a big fan of french fries--potatoes are great, but salt is not my thing. However, if I go to Arby's or Chik-fil-a, I usually enjoy their fries more than the sandwich.
I enjoyed this post--captivating title, too!

Thanks Amy. I msut not take credit for the title however. I borrowed it from the article on the subject.

And I can't believe you don't enjoy french fries.

It isn't that I dislike french fries--I just don't love them. Too greasy for my taste, usually. I am, however, a big fan of oven-roasted potatoes (I've heard them called "oven fries", but how can they be fried if they're done in the oven??)
