Turning 12

My grandmother (on my mother's side) took each of her grandchildren on some sort of weekend trip for their 12th birthday. When I was 12 she took me by train to my Aunt Miriam's house and then we went to New York City for the day.

A couple of year's ago I was telling Dave about this and suggested that we do something similar for the grandchildren. We have three grandsons who live in British Columbia so bringing them here for a week in the summer of their 12th birthday seemed like a great idea. So we started saving and this year, in May Cole, the oldest, will be 12. Today we booked the plane tickets.

Dave will fly out there on August 10 (which also happens to be Carmen's birthday) and return with Cole on  August 17th. Cole will stay fly home again (on his own) on August 29th. We have already purchased tickets for a Phillies game (Dave waited in line at Citizens Bank Park for three hours to get them on the first day of single game ticket sales!). We plan on a day at the shore (Ocean City of course), and a visit to Northlandz in Flemington, NJ just to name a few things we will do.

I'm not sure who is more excited grandpa or grandson. :)
