You know I can't dance...

I really can't. But I did try.

Tonight was SEcond Saturday in Media. Second Saturday is sponsored by the MEdia Arts Council. Held once a month on the second Saturday of the month (duh); sometimes it simply a showcase of artists and musicians and sometimes it's more. July is one of the month's where it is more. In July we celebrate MEdia being the first Fair Trade town in the USA and Bastille Day. I don't believe one has anything to do with the other; it's just a coincidence.

After listening to the speeches we joined the crowd in the 'storming of the Bastille'. The Bastille this year was the now vacant building at hte corner of JAckson and State. Years ago this was the Borough hall. When the Borough Hall moved (well the hall didn't move the people who occupied it did) to 4th and Jackson the building housed at least two different restaurants; New Orleans Cafe and BRodeurs. now it is sadly vacant. BUT tonight it served as the backdrop for the re-enactment.

Once that was over we wandered down state street to the stage where players from the Media Theater did some songs and scenes from Les Miserable. IT was nicely done and enjoyable.

At 7:00 p.m. a dance instructor invited people to come out and learn some swing and zydeco dance steps. I know I can't dance but I figured why not and Dave being the good sport that he is (and someone who likes to dance) came out with me. I tried, I really did but I just couldn't get they rhythm. And at times just when I thought I WAS getting it, they added a new step and I was lost again. Still we laughed a lot and it was fun!

I can chew gum and walk and I can run marathons... but I can't Dance!

Glad you had fun - and you are NOT alone in having missed the dancing gene!!
