Happy Birthday Emma

This post could also be titled, You know you are getting old when (part 2).

Today Emma is 18. My own age doesn't bother me. (48 for anyone who doesn't already know). Seeing those around me age seems to have much greater effect. It's hard to believe that 18 years could pass that quickly.
It seems like yesterday that she entered this world on her on time table (a week before a scheduled c-section). Since then she has taken hold of life and made things happen on her own time and in her own way. I am very proud of Emma. She is a kind, loving person. She is very self aware and is not afraid to go after what she wants. She has an ability to make and accept friends easily. Although her strong personality puts some off, she is fiercely loyal and the first in line to offer support. She is an avid reader and enjoys learning (homework is a different matter).
This picture is of her newly moved into her dorm. The bear she holds is Buttons, her companion since age 4 or 5.
Happy Birthday, Emma. I love you.

First of Paula - you are old and I'm not far behind! A Happy 18th Birthday to Emma from her Uncle Mark. Your right - Emma has always known what she wants. It's possible my ears are still ringing from her letting us know that when we went somewhere she DIDN'T want to go. Now that she's an adult (at least by gov't standards), the world should be on notice - I predict big things. Maybe if Hilary doesn't become president, Emma will be the first woman president.

Hi there! Just read through your blog to bring me up-to-date...a lot has happened since cookie bake. Didn't know that Emma is now in an away-from-home college-
I thought she was still attending community college! Happy belated birthday to Emma from her behind-the-times Aunt Jill and Uncle Thomas.
