A Sister's Virtual Tour

My sisters and I began a virtual walking tour 88 weeks ago. On June 13, 2008 we began to log our minutes of excercise each week. Exercise that 'counted' was anything that went over and above normal everyday chores and events. We emailed our minutes to each other every Friday and at a rate of 1 mile for every 10 minutes of exercise we travelled on the American Discovery Trail.

The trail starts in Cape Henlopen, DE and ends in Point Reyes National Seashore, California. Click here for an image of the trail map. Click here for a chart of the milestones along the trail.

Today is Friday. I entered our minutes and discovered that as of this week, 88 weeks after we started, we had crossed the finish line! To accomplish the task we walked when we could have ridden, we took stairs when we could have taken elevators, we ran marthons and half marathons, we walked 5k's, we toured Walt Disney World, we played soccer with children, we mowed lawns, we went to the gym ..... the list goes on. Some weeks we all logged many hours, some weeks we didn't. There were weeks when one or another of us had no minutes. At least one of us had minutes in each of the 88 weeks. We encouraged, cheered and commiserated. Despite not living in the same city and between us three different states we did accomplish some of the minutes together. And today we finished! :)

Thanks. It was fun. Have to come up with a new route I guess.
