Both Dave and I did not have to work today. We checked out Phillyfunguide.com and decided on the "Flavor of Philly" tour. We met our guides at the Shops at Liberty Place in front of Saxby's. We had two gudes because Joe was training so Jamie came with him. Joe was very nervous and Jamie really likes doing these tours so he kept jumping in and poor Joe just never got comfortable with it. Still it was a fun an entertaining tour.
We also had a very intimate tour. Besides Dave and I there was a mom and her 15 year old son from Bucks County.
First, we stopped at Joe's Pizzeria for tomato pie which was very good if maybe a little too much oregano for me. Next it was on to the Pretzel Factory. We walked around City Hall and into Wannamakers/Macy's where they were having a flower show of sorts. Having only been in their for the holiday show it was neat to see it all "Springed up".
From there we went to Zio's for a taste of cheesesteak. The Reading Terminal market was our last stop for a piece of hoagie, chocolate covered pretzels and 4th Street Famous cookies.
The tour is a combination of Philly history and food. Being locals it was hard for our guides to tell us much we hadn't heard before. Still it was a gorgeous day to be walking around town so we had a good time .
