They both died yesterday. Their obituaries were in the Inquirer this morning. I thought Soup Sales already was dead. But apparantly not.
Jack Poole is not a celebrity. At least not in the US. He wasn't anyone I had ever heard of but his obit was just below Soupy Sales and the words 'Vancouver Olympics' caught my eye. Turns out that Mr. Poole was a driving force behind bringing the 2010 Winter Olympics to Vancouver, BC. How said, I thought, he won't get to see his project to completion. Then the story got even more melancholy. He died the day after the Olympic Torch was lit in Greece to begin it's trip to Vancouver. Oh my.
Btw, the Dave did know how Mr Poole was. He was a big deal in British Columbia.
